5 Touch Screen News in 9 August 2022
Advanced touch screens could be coming to digital devices within five years, according to researchers. The first prototypes are already being developed, and researchers predict the first line of such touchscreens could be in use in five years. In addition, the iPhone 14 is expected to come with a unique dual cutout for FaceID and camera. This new design will feature a touch screen that mimics a texture, according to reports. There’s a good chance the new iPhone will also be expensive.
iPhone 14 to feature unique dual cutout for camera/FaceID
It’s possible that Apple will finally go for a true hole punch design in the next iPhone. According to a report from 9to5Mac, the iPhone 14 Pro will feature a unique dual cutout on the front, housing both the camera sensor and the Face ID components. While this design may not look as striking as the notch, it’s certainly a step in the right direction.
A reliable source claims that the iPhone 14 Pro will have two cutouts on the front, including a pill-shaped one on the left side and a circular one on the right. This circular cutout is presumably the location for Apple’s selfie camera and Face ID sensors. The new cutout orientation differs from previous leaks, which depicted the display’s back side.
Apple may raise prices for new iPhone
A June report claimed that Apple would raise prices for the new iPhone by $100. This report also states that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max will cost $100 more than their predecessors. This would raise the price of the new iPhone to $999 and $1199, respectively. However, the loss of the iPhone Mini would offset the price hike by making the new iPhone cheaper, either through a refurbished model or a cheaper variant of the iPhone SE.
The increase in the price of the iPhone is not guaranteed. Apple usually locks in the cost of components with suppliers before they are introduced, so it would be risky to raise prices immediately. Apple did not respond to Fortune’s request for comment. Meanwhile, rivals have announced that they will introduce new iPhones with faster 5G networks, improved cameras, and more powerful processors. Hence, it is possible that Apple will increase prices for new iPhones in August 2022.
New iPhone will feature touch screen
As we enter the final years of the current era, it’s likely that Apple will finally make its iPhone touch screen. The new device will have dual-cutout displays that are round and pill shaped. The round cutout will be nearly invisible, while the smaller cutout will appear as a sideways ‘i’ sunk into the display. The Apple iPhone 14 is also expected to feature a new auto-accident feature that will automatically dial emergency services after a car accident.
Another rumor is that the next iPhone will include Touch ID as an in-display fingerprint sensor. Some analysts say that this will not be an option on every model. Touch ID may be reserved for the iPhone Pro. In 2022, it will likely be the first generation iPhone with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. In addition to this, rumors have surfaced about a dual-sensor iPhone. Apple has yet to confirm rumors about dual-sensor iPhones, but if the rumor is true, it’s worth keeping an eye out.
New iPhone will feature multiphysics technology
Apple is rumored to be working to eliminate the notch on its iPhone 14 models. The notch is where Apple houses the Face ID hardware. When it was first introduced in 2017, it sparked outrage. While the notch has changed little since its introduction on the iPhone 13, it has remained a controversial design choice. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the notch would disappear on iPhone models in 2022. While this may not happen in the immediate future, it is possible that the company will move toward this design direction by 2023.
The new iPhone models will likely feature a 120-Hz refresh rate and a 48-megapixel camera. Some reports even claim that the new Pro models will include a “periscope” zoom lens that will allow users to get a higher optical zoom than normal. However, it is unclear whether the multiphysics technology will be included on the iPhone 14 or 2023. Other features expected on the 2022 versions include an improved camera and 8K video recording.

New iPhone will feature 5G connectivity
Apple is going all-in with 5G connectivity in the next generation of its smartphones. The company was a bit behind on this technology, but it’s now ahead of its rivals – Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and OPPO were among the first companies to offer the technology on their premium devices. If you want to upgrade your phone now, you can get the iPhone 13 mini for $0 from AT&T.
Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series last year, adding support for 5G connectivity in smartphones. Now, the company is going all out with next-generation connectivity, and all iPhones that will be released in 2022 will have 5G support. It’s also expected that Apple will drop the iPhone Mini model from its lineup, which was launched in 2017.
